The Hettinger County Huskies Track and Field Team turned in a strong performance at the Southwest Regional Track Meet held in Beach on Tuesday, May 12, earning several individual and relay qualifications for the upcoming State Track Meet.
Individual state qualifiers for the Huskies include Shaunie Mayer in the triple jump, Will Grist in the triple jump, Rowan Prescott in both the long jump and triple jump, Kiya Prescott in the triple jump, Jordan Jung in the triple jump, Breken Binstock in the high jump, Mike Greff in both the javelin and discus, Allison Grist in the javelin, and Brystol Belland in the 100-meter dash.
The Huskies also qualified three relay teams for state competition. The girls 4x100 relay team of Ella Binstock, Meadow Olsonawski, Teagen Penn, and Brystol Belland earned a trip to state, along with the 4x200 relay team of Teagen Penn, Carly Wolf, Meadow Olsonawski, and Brystol Belland. The 4x400 relay team of Kara Roll, Kallie Dinius, Carly Wolf, and Meadow Olsonawski also secured a state berth.
The State Track Meet will be held in Bismarck from May 21–23.
