There’s a lot of decisions to be made this November, and New England Public School is asking voters to say YES to a bond referendum.
In several prior discussions, during the past couple years, the New England Public School Board approved a resolution that will appear before taxpayers at the polls on Nov. 6 requesting a bond to expand and make improvements to our campus.
We encourage people to get informed on what we’re asking of them. We also want them to get accurate information before making a decision. Therefore, we have planned several Public Input meetings throughout the next several weeks. Our next meeting is scheduled for October 17th at 6:30 PM in the gymnasium.
The bond referendum was created because of the district’s increase in enrollment over the past 10 years. We have more than doubled our enrollment and have run out of room to be able to accommodate splitting some of our elementary classes.
If the bond referendum fails on Nov. 6, then the New England Public School Board would still need to make plans for a building project to accommodate the incoming students to fit into the current campus. So, the board needs to decide on what the learning environment would look like and what we can afford to make it look like.
We are sending out community surveys to gauge where members of the New England Public School District stand on the direction they feel the district should go.
We encourage everyone to complete the survey to help us make some informed decisions. We also encourage everyone to come to our forums to express their opinions and hear our story.
