The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruption to our students during the last quarter of our 2019-2020 school year. We know our graduates, their families, and their friends were looking forward to the many events that are the culmination of an academic and school career. Spring activities, the prom, senior trips, and ultimately graduation are cherished events for seniors. Our School Board, administration, faculty, and staff all share in your disappointment and sense of loss that these events were canceled due to the health crisis.
We want you to know that our entire community is committed to recognizing and celebrating your accomplishments as you prepare for the next exciting chapter of your lives. Graduation is the brightest moment we have in a school year, and many of us are doing all we can so that you can experience the fulfillment of your commitment over the past four years. At the same time, we all have limitations and responsibilities for one another and each other’s family members surrounding our shared public health.
It is important that each school district consider whether a graduation ceremony or celebration should be held, and if so, how it can be held while respecting the recommended guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH). Attached is the complete North Dakota High School Graduation Plan outlined by the state.
We are still planning on how to best conduct our graduation ceremony and still keep our community safe. As soon as plans are finalized, an agenda will be released to our community, so we can all celebrate our 2020 graduates accomplishments.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
