I sat down with one of our teachers in our NEPS resource room, Alicia Sonsalla, and spoke with her about her typical day at NEPS. She says her biggest change is going to be preparing kids for their next grade or level; she also expressed her concerns for her significant schedule changes from the previous semester. In her typical day, she interacts with students from kindergarten to seniors. She told me that she loves working with her high school students: “Working with my high school students is challenging for both myself and the students, and it makes both myself and the student better,” says Sonsalla. Often times students and parents are confused with her role in their student’s education, and she says her biggest reward in teaching is that the students not only learn the material, but are thankful for the opportunity to learn.
