The Hettinger County 4-H Archery team ended the ND 4-H Indoor Archery season on a strong note by placing very well at the state tournament in Bismarck on April 13th. This is the last and mandatory contest before the final ranking of 4-H Archers for the 2019 season. In order to place in the final ranking archers need to compete in 2 other regional contests that have been held throughout the season. The scores from 3 contests are compiled to establish the final ranking for the indoor time frame. The ND 4-H Archery Program has over 300 youth that participate from across the state. Hettinger county participants all ranked in the top 30 individuals statewide!
The Beginner Bare Bow group ranked as a team for the season in 3rd place overall. Members of the beginners were Emma Olsonowski, Meadow Olsonowski, Mark Schmidt, Koedyn Awender and Ali Herberholz.
The Junior Division team placing was 5th overall. Making up the team and their individual rankings were James Augare, Katie Schmidt, Messa Kuehl and Megan Monke.
A few of the individual placings for the Bismarck contest in the Bare Bow (without sights) Division. Medal winners were split male and female. Sydney Steiner placing 2nd in the senior category. James Augare garnering 2nd in the juniors. Meadow Olsonowski placing 2nd and Emma Olsonowski grabbing the 3rd spot.
The final composite scores for the overall ND State 4-H ranking for the season are as follows: In the Bare Bow Division, Sydney Steiner 4th place-senior, Will Schmidt 18th place-senior.
The next step for the Archery teams will be the outdoor 3-D season.
